News Release: Tech Startup PlanPerfect Supports a Growing Roster of Nonprofits in the Essential Work of Strategic Planning
(Monday, January 2, 2025)—PlanPerfect, a digital platform revolutionizing strategic planning for small and midsized nonprofits, is supporting a growing roster of organizations. Working across all nonprofit sectors—including education to adaptive sports, cultural resources, social services, environmental conservation, and the arts—PlanPerfect is dedicated to helping often overlooked and underfunded organizations achieve their missions through agile, effective strategic plans.
PlanPerfect was founded in 2024 by Sophia Shaw and Adam Wolford, marrying Shaw’s four decades of nonprofit expertise with Wolford’s deep tech background. The tool is powered by AI trained on Shaw’s extensive insights on nonprofit management, governance, and leadership.
“The response to PlanPerfect has been astounding—with executive directors, consultants, board members, philanthropists, and foundations alike seeing the benefits of a sound strategic plan—and are heartened to be supporting such worthwhile nonprofits,” said Shaw and Wolford.
Nonprofits with a strategic plan achieve more: they have greater fundraising success and are more likely to succeed in fulfilling their mission. And yet so many of them avoid it because it’s overwhelming, cumbersome, and expensive. That’s where PlanPerfect comes in, making the strategic-planning process more approachable, collaborative, and cost effective.
Shaw is the former president and CEO of the Chicago Botanic Garden and has taught social impact and nonprofit governance at the Kellogg School of Management. She has been a trustee, board president, donor, volunteer, and consultant during her career in the nonprofit sector. She is also a certified paratriathlon and open water swimming coach, a mental-health hotline volunteer, and a Trustee of Wellesley College. She is a member of the International Women’s Forum and the Young Presidents’ Organization.
Wolford has over a decade of experience in technology development, strategy, and operations. He began his career as a management consultant at Accenture and Deloitte before moving into the startup world, where he became head of product for the endurance industry's top technology platform. He has also been actively involved in nonprofit board service and volunteer work, currently serving on the board of the Intuit Art Museum.
